The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2009 with 60 students in its undergraduate program. In 2013 established a Master's program in Manufacturing Engineering, starting with 18 students. Our department is also a recognized research centre at Anna University, supporting over 25 research scholars in various fields. Currently, we serve over 600 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs.

The Mechanical Students are enriched with more practical knowledge, which makes them achieve Core Placements. With a Mechanical background, one can shine in different fields like Design, Production, Robotics, Aeronautical, Space Research, Marine, Automobile, etc. The Department Faculty and students have published more papers in National and International Conferences/Journals. The major areas of research include Biodiesel, Solar Energy, Composite materials, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Energy-Efficient Technologies, Digital Manufacturing, Robotics, Supply Chain Management, and Lean Manufacturing. Our department has very good infrastructure and well-equipped laboratories. The Department has conventional and research laboratories.

Our department has organized national conferences, workshops, and a Faculty Development Program funded by various funding agencies. Our department has signed many MOUs to train students in various streams of Mechanical Engineering. It also helps the students with Internships, Projects, and Placement.

Our students participated in national-level conferences/ Workshops in various institutions and secured awards and prizes. Our department encourages students to participate in various sports activities, and students have won many awards and medals.
